(700 kb) BUSINESS Although, Nooksack has a small business district the City has many exciting plans for the future. Nooksack has developed a 10-year Community Action Plan (CAP), building upon the 1997 City Comprehensive Plan. The following will outline a small portion of the CAP and provide a "birds eye" perspective, representing potential development in Nooksack. A NEW DIRECTION: THE NOOKSACK COMMUNITY ACTION PLAN The "Goal" The goal of this Community Action Plan is to provide a blueprint for creating family wage jobs, enhancing the quality of life and developing a strong community identity. The objective of the CAP is to build upon the solid foundation of the 1997 City of Nooksack Comprehensive Plan. The Nooksack Community Action Plan (CAP) proposes to increase business and recreation opportunities through the creation of a CENTRAL MARKET DISTRICT, a BUSINESS CAMPUS, and a PARKS AND TRAILS SYSTEM. The plan addresses less than 50 acres of the 434 acres within the city limits. This plan does not address residential development, although some accessory residences are envisioned in the market and business areas. Nooksack Vision Summary The sketches in the following pages provide graphic "birds eye" perspective drawings representing the potential for development of a CENTRAL MARKET DISTRICT, a BUSINESS CAMPUS, and a PARKS AND TRAIL SYSTEM, over the 10-year period from 2000 to 2010. Much like a three-legged stool these three components working together can provide solid footing for the rest of the community to rely on. Together they can act as a catalyst to spark revitalization in the community as well as provide an economic base for making needed improvements to the city.
