SHORELINE MANAGEMENT MASTER PROGRAM UPDATE
Project Description
The City of Nooksack is in the process of updating its Shoreline Management Master Program, which guides and regulates development adjacent to the Sumas River, Breckenridge Creek and the Nooksack Slough. In general, the Shoreline Program goals, policies and regulations affect land within 200 feet of the Sumas River or Breckenridge Creek, plus the land within 50 feet of the Nooksack Slough. The City’s Shoreline Program was last updated in 2001.
As part of the Shoreline Master Program update the City has prepared a Shoreline Inventory and Analysis Report. The City is providing the public and state and federal resource agencies the opportunity to review and comment on the Inventory Report, which can be accessed using the link below under Documents. Comments should be provided by the end of March 2011 and may be sent by mail to: City of Nooksack, P.O. Box 4265, Nooksack, WA 98276; or by e-mail to: rollinh@sehome.com.
The City is currently preparing a new Shoreline Management Master Program document, which will be available for review later in 2011. Once this new draft document is available it will be added to the list of Documents below and will be accessible by the public for review and comment. The process of reviewing and adopting the new Shoreline Master Program will begin in July 2011 and be completed by June 2012.
